The Web is revolutionizing numerous industries, from furnishings & farming to fashion. One of the most transformed industries being revolutionized however is the food industry! At the top of the transformation list is the ability to order online. Fortune Magazine in fact reported that venture capitalists invested $2.8 billion into food-industry related startups in 2013! Millennial consumers have driven a large part of this change. Though it’s debatable whether Millennial consumers are driving industry change, and their relationship with food is far more personal, communal and intimate than any generation before. They want food to be authentic, to know how it was produced, and they want a shared experience, driven in part by small plates eaten in a communal setting.
